The Definitive, Extremely Unscientific Guide to Aura Colors
Last updated: 2026 · Credentials held by the author: none
Aura reading has a long, dignified history of people squinting at other people and deciding what color they are. In the 1800s a scientist named Walter Kilner looked at patients through tinted glass screens and reported seeing colored haze around their bodies, which he attributed to human biofields. Modern science has not been able to replicate this. We, a website that assigns you a color based on how you'd react if a stranger made prolonged eye contact with you on the bus, are not going to be the ones to fix that. Here's what each color supposedly means, according to no one in particular.
Amber — Energy
Amber auras are the reason your group chat has 400 unread messages by 9am. You walk into rooms like you were personally invited by the room. You've never finished a to-do list because you were too busy starting four new ones. People love you and also need you to sit down sometimes.
Cyan — Calm
Cyan auras have never once lost their phone charger. You are the friend people call when they're spiraling, not because you have advice, but because your voice makes the spiraling stop. Your houseplants are thriving out of spite for everyone else's.
Violet — Mystery
Nobody has ever known what you're thinking, including you, sometimes. You give "main character in a movie no one has seen yet" energy. You've been asked "wait, are you mad at me?" at least once this week, and the answer was no, you were just thinking about something else entirely and forgot your face was doing a thing.
Rose — Chaos
You have never once left a party the way you arrived at it. Something always happens near you, and you will insist it's not your fault, and it is, gently, your fault. You are extremely fun and mildly a liability, and everyone has already accepted this about you.
Mint — Light
You remember everyone's birthday without a reminder. You've been called "the nice one" so many times it's basically your government name at this point. People behave slightly better around you and don't fully understand why.
So which one are you?
Statistically, you are not entirely one of these — most people are a blend, with one that dominates. The only rigorous way to find out is to answer 10 slightly unhinged multiple-choice questions and let an algorithm neither of us fully understands sort you into a number and a color. It takes under a minute. If you land on the lowest tier, that one's called Laura, and yes, we have a whole separate article about why.
